How to Make Sure that You Spray Paint Properly?

Spray painting looks a lot easier to do that using conventional methods of brush and paint but it still needs a few tips and tricks to get it done well. One should also make sure that the surroundings are clean, you have the right tools for the job and always make sure that you use safety items. Here are a few tips to help you with your spray painting project.

Spray Paint

  • Collect all the tools required: A visit to any of the local wholesale spray paint suppliers in your town will let you know that paints are available in hundreds of colors and brands. Do please check and get the right paint for your work. You will also need a primer, some old newspapers, a clean cloth or a plastic tarp to protect the ground and other surroundings items, disposable gloves, safety glasses, mask and painter’s tape. Most of these items can be bought from a bike spray paint supplier.
  • Prepare the work area: Spray painting should be done in a well ventilated place as the fumes can cause respiratory damage but keep in mind that the weather is not too cold or too hot and the humidity is around 60%. Cordon off the area with the plastic tarp and cover the ground with newspaper and tape of the areas you do not want to paint.
  • Clean the item: Next you should clean off the area or if painting the bike, the entire bike of any dust, grease, etc. as otherwise the paint will not stick to it. Use a clean and damp cloth to wipe off and make it dry before you start painting. Once done, you may apply the primer to this entire area that needs to be painted.
  • Test the can: Shake the spray can well for around 4-5 minutes to mix up the paint inside consistently. There is no too much shaking but you can surely shake too less which will affect your painting. Next do a spot test by spraying on a piece of wood or cardboard to get an idea of how the paint will come out and the distance required for painting.
  • The finale: Start with slow sweeps over the surface of the project to get an even coat of paint. Make sure that you overlap each pass of the paint slightly to leave no gaps. Apply only a thin coat and let it dry before adding another layer of paint over it.
